G. Greene Construction's Site Division completed all civil phases of construction for the new PMLP Switching Station, Peabody, MA. The first phase of the project included clearing and grubbing over 7,500 S/F of existing land and building a new access road to the site. Next, the entire station area was open cut for material processing and screening for re-use as station backfill. 29 concrete piers were laid out, formed and placed to receive the new Pre-Fabricated Switch Building and Dead End Structures. Line, grade and placement of the embedded steel and anchor bolts was critical to accept the new hardware. Station work also included precast manholes and over 1100' of concrete encased duct banks. Once the switching station was installed, G. Greene performed site improvements consisting of 7,000 SF of bituminous concrete, as well as a crushed stone through out the station area. The project also included site restoration with security fence, guard rail, loam and hydro seeding.
