Project Overview
G. Greene completed a 4,800-square-foot laboratory and 2,800-square-foot office renovation to accommodate the LIU GROUP’s relocation. The project involved creating two new warm rooms, reconfiguring bench space and lab sinks, and installing a new emergency shower. Additionally, vented chemical storage cabinets were installed in the existing tissue culture room on the third floor to address the needs of an incoming Core Faculty member.
The primary objective was to execute meticulous planning and coordination while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations. The laboratory renovations included the acquisition and installation of new laboratory casework and hoods, the creation of a new freezer farm room, and modifications to the existing walk-in cold room. Additionally, the G. Greene Team removed and installed millwork and sinks, relocated and set up existing vented chemical cabinets, and converted a copy room to a triple office.
Solutions
G. Greene’s team prioritized creating a noninfectious environment in and around the construction zone by utilizing containment measures to maintain a safe working environment. They also ensured that all operations, including workforce and material movement, were executed with the utmost care, minimizing disruptions and upholding safety standards throughout the project duration.
G. Greene successfully coordinated and oversaw the installation of complex and extensive plumbing systems, including oxygen, nitrogen, reverse osmosis deionized water lines, helium manifold, laboratory vacuum, laboratory waste, and laboratory venting. Our team maintained daily communication with the Broad Institute’s facilities team to efficiently coordinate shutdowns and deliveries to minimize disruption to the building occupants. This approach contributed to keeping the project on schedule and within the stipulated timelines.
Results
G. Greene has effectively executed a thorough laboratory and office renovation to facilitate the LIU GROUP’s relocation. These upgrades enhance the infrastructure in accordance with the client’s requirements and the design teams’ vision.
