Project Overview
G. Greene completed a single renovation to a neurosurgery tissue culture lab, research lab, IDF Closet, offices, and corridor. The work included MEP upgrades, exterior windows, casework, and new finishes.
Solutions
- Carefully managed noise and dust control.
- Identified and expedited many long lead items, including mechanical units and exterior windows.
- All shutdowns and switchovers are tightly coordinated with Building and Grounds MGH staff.
- Ran weekly coordination meetings with laboratory staff and owner.
- Worked with the design team to expedite practical responses to RFIs and avoid significant impacts on the schedule.
- Scheduled intrusive and disruptive work during off-hours.
Results
- Work completed around occupied labs with minimal disruption to MGH Operations.
- Leveraging relationships with key vendors and procuring items early minimized the impact of design changes / long lead items.
- The project was completed on time and within budget.
